1964, August 28 – Fire Damage Contained at Crisp Warehouse on W. Union

A blaze in the top of an elevator shaft broke out in a three-story warehouse at 600 W. Union today. The building is owned by Harry Crisp, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co., Marion. Firemen said an electric motor at the top of the shaft shorted and caused grease to ignite. Fire broke out near 9 am today. The blaze did not spread outside the elevator shaft. Slight damage was reported.
