George Robertson’s Livery Stable

George Robertson’s Livery Stable operated thru the end of the 1800’s and was located on East Main St. behind the Goodall Hotel on the corner of S. Madison St.

Note the Modern Woodmen of the World Logo on his building. It isn’t clear at this point if the upstairs was a meeting room for M.W.A. or if he was just promoting the organization. After the Goodall Hotel burned in 1941 it was eventually replaced with the W.T. Grant building which later was converted to the now current City Hall. This stable would be where the parking lot for the Police Dept is located now in 2012.
