1962, October 26 – General Telephone Averts Mishap

The Marion Fire Department Thursday at 3:20 pm through quick action by firemen, averted a possible mishap at the General Telephone Company building, 204 W. Union when steam pipes covered from overheated hot water pipes covering the basement of the building. The firemen quickly entered the steam covered basement and turned off the gas which had been supplying the furnace with fuel.
