J.M. Cunningham 1812-1873
The name of Cunningham comes from the union of two Saxon words, “Koenig,” meaning King, and “Hanie,” meaning home, or literally, Kings Home. The name can be traced back to early British history and historic events as early as 1059. John M. Cunningham was the son of Robert Cunningham, son of Joseph Cunningham and Mary Simerson Cunningham. Sally S. Binkley 1818-1906
Mrs. Sallie S. Binkley was born in Davidson County, Tennessee, on November 22, 1818. Her father was Henry T. Lee, who, coming from Virginia when a boy, settled 2.5 miles from Nashville, Tennessee. She grew to womanhood and married in Tennessee. Her husband was Jacob J. Binkley, to whom she was united in April, 1839. The couple reached Marion, Illinois to live in May, 1852. Continue reading

It is pretty well established that the Williamson County Fair has been, in the past, a very big affair not only for the county but for the entire region as well. So large were the crowds and conversely the numbers of automobiles that there is no way the fairground could handle all of the automobiles.
