1954, Marion Jaycees Plan Charter Night

Plans Made for Meeting to be Held on July 1

Tentative plans for holding a charter night for the newly organized Marion Junior Chamber of Commerce were discussed at a meeting of the group Thursday evening at the Scout Cabin.

Date for the event has been set for July 1. The group hopes to hold a dinner meeting inviting Jaycee dignitaries from other towns as well as state officials. A place for the charter night was not decided upon.

The Jaycees first project, a broom sale, netted the organization funds to hold the charter night, it was reported by the treasurer Bob Blankenship.

The Jaycees discussed future projects before adjourning. A softball team composed of Jaycee members held its first practice session at the city park Thursday evening just prior to the meeting.

Richard Jackson, vice-president was in charge of the meeting in the absence of Charles Jones, president. The Jaycees will meet again next Thursday at the Scout Cabin.
