The wholesale grocery house of Goddard & Co. was operated in Marion as a branch of the large wholesale institution in St. Louis, which was incorporated in 1872. The company was present in Marion by the turn of the century and in the 1906 Marion directory they were listed at 118 E. Union Street. Continue reading →

Sometime in the late 1980s, my sister, Susie Green Moore, convinced our parents Miriam and Wayne Green to record memories of their lives.  Using an ancient upright Underwood manual typewriter, my mother typed her own story first and then transcribed my father’s handwritten notes.  Continue reading →

To improve search results when more than two words are used in the search box, enclosing them in quotes will return only the exact phrase. i.e. "Tom Jones"

Names were often spelled differently back in time due to illiteracy and transcription errors. Consider all possible spellings of a last name. For instance, Maynard could also be Manard, Menard, Maynerd or Mainard.

Also, try leaving trailing letters off of names that have variations and keep the letters that tend to stay the same.
