1949, January 13 – Jefferson School on Boulevard Completely Destroyed

Fire early Thursday morning completely destroyed the Jefferson School building on East Boulevard. The loss of the building left nearly 250 pupils of grades from one to six without a school building. Continue reading →

Names were often spelled differently back in time due to illiteracy and transcription errors. Consider all possible spellings of a last name. For instance, Maynard could also be Manard, Menard, Maynerd or Mainard.

Also, try leaving trailing letters off of names that have variations and keep the letters that tend to stay the same.
