1948, July 6 – Frick Funeral Home Damaged by Fire

1948, May 21 – Marion Bowl on Rt 13 Damaged

Fire at 3:15 am Friday damaged the Marion Bowl on Rt. 13 west of Marion. Fireman who fought the blaze for nearly two hours and prevented total loss of the elaborate bowling establishment expressed the opinion that the fire started from electric wiring in the attic. Continue reading →

1948, January 12 – Frame Building on E. Main Destroyed

1947, December 17 – Photo Studio on W. Main St. Destroyed by Fire

Fire which was discovered in the basement of the two story brick building at 304 W. Main Street destroyed a photographer’s studio and resulted in smoke damage to the City Cleaner in the same building. Continue reading →

To improve search results when more than two words are used in the search box, enclosing them in quotes will return only the exact phrase. i.e. "Tom Jones"

Names were often spelled differently back in time due to illiteracy and transcription errors. Consider all possible spellings of a last name. For instance, Maynard could also be Manard, Menard, Maynerd or Mainard.

Also, try leaving trailing letters off of names that have variations and keep the letters that tend to stay the same.
