1943, March 9 – Uneeda Cafe Next to Orpheum Damaged

Fire almost completely ruined the “Uneeda Café” a small eating place between the Orpheum Theatre and the county jail about three o’clock yesterday afternoon with damage amounting to several hundreds of dollars. Continue reading →

1942, December 28 – Farmers Produce Behind City Hall Badly Damaged

The Farmer’s Produce Co., operated by Lloyd McMichael, was open for business in temporary quarters Monday morning after fire which broke out at 3 pm Saturday destroyed the entire retail stock of flour, feed and of the store located in the Dunston Building in the rear of the city hall. 1942, November 14 – Marion Bowling Alley on N. Market has Fire

The fire department was called Friday evening to the Marion Bowling Alley on North Market Street when paper around the flue caught fire. The blaze was extinguished without serious damage.

To improve search results when more than two words are used in the search box, enclosing them in quotes will return only the exact phrase. i.e. "Tom Jones"

Names were often spelled differently back in time due to illiteracy and transcription errors. Consider all possible spellings of a last name. For instance, Maynard could also be Manard, Menard, Maynerd or Mainard.

Also, try leaving trailing letters off of names that have variations and keep the letters that tend to stay the same.
