The Uptown Motel opened at 106 W. College St. around 1957.  Squeezed into the back lot of the Orpheum Theater, it literally hugged the stage house of the theater offering up only enough space for about 14 rooming units. Continue reading →

Names were often spelled differently back in time due to illiteracy and transcription errors. Consider all possible spellings of a last name. For instance, Maynard could also be Manard, Menard, Maynerd or Mainard.
