201 W. College St. 1875-2005
This home was built around 1875 for Hartwell Hendrickson and his wife Nannie Hendrickson, the first girl born in Marion. Hartwell died in 1899 and Nannie continued to live there until her death which I suspect as being around 1910. The home, which was originally red brick, is a good example of Greek Revival Architecture. Continue reading
Nannie Hendrickson 1904
This lady has the distinction of being the first girl born in Marion, Illinois,where she resided till her death. Nannie Allen was the daughter of Willis Allen. She was born October 6, 1843 and was twice a widow. She married J. Monroe Goddard January 6, 1843 by which she had three children Mrs. H.C. Purdy, Mrs. D.F. Kiser and Mrs. D.G. Fitzgerald. F.M. Westbrook Residence 1904
Built in 1890 by Francis M. Westbrook, a successful dry goods merchant. He lived in the house with his wife Paulina (Lafferty) and their children James W. (Willie), Willis F. and Daisy Bella till his death in 1910 and hers in 1912. Continue reading
