This photo of the Marion Fire Department at the fire station on West Union Street appeared in the Marion Daily Republican on April 27, 1953. Left to right, E.E. Weber, Fire Chief Zoral Buckner, Ass’t Chief Jack Whiting, Jack Stephens and Lawrence Dungey. The photo was taken by Carl Sorgen.

The original land grant from the United States of America to Elijah N. Spiller was on July 1, 1841 signed by President John Tyler. Then on October 25, 1849 a parcel containing 61 acres plus was transferred to James P. Thorne. Continue reading
