William Mueller’s father, Henry Mueller, died at his home in St. Louis at 5 a.m. Thursday, June 30. He was 80 years of age and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Hagemeyer Mueller and a number of children and grandchildren. Burial to be in Friedens’s Cemetery in St. Louis. Jul 1, 1927

Mrs. Frank Hartwell died at her home in Houston, Texas Wednesday and her body was brought to Marion for funeral services. She was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret Chadwell Roberts of Marion, widow of the late Oscar Roberts. She was born in Corinth and at the time of her death was 24 years old. She graduated from M.T.H.S. in 1921 and was married to Frank Hartwell of Marion in 1924. For the past two years she has lived in Texas. Her mother, her husband and small son and one sister, Miss Edith Roberts and four brothers, Carl, Jack, Loren and Charles Roberts, survive Mrs. Hartwell. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery. Jul 2, 1927

An early morning fire Saturday destroyed the Davis Garage Ford Motor Company on North Market Street. the frame bungalow west of the garage on white street, the former home of the late Fred Davis, founder of the Davis Bros. Sales Co., was burned to the ground. a family by the name of McArthur occupied the house and saved all of their household goods except a cook stove. Apr 2, 1927

Virgil Hearn and Charles Kennedy, two Herrin youths, are in the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro to await the action of the grand jury on charges of slaying H.S. Phillips, Cairo merchant in a holdup at a Carbondale store a few weeks ago. The youths have been in custody three weeks. Jan 3, 1927

Lafayette Tippett, 38, died at his home in Herrin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, of tuberculosis. His widow and three children survive him. Deceased was a son of William and Bell Tippett and formerly lived in Marion. James Tippett of Marion is a brother. Interment was in the Carterville Cemetery. Oct 1, 1926
