Early History of Our Williamson County Public Schools

The first Official Record pertaining to the public schools of Williamson County dates from the year A.D. 1840 when William F. Tanner, school commissioner of the new county of Williamson, receipted Scion H. Mitchell, then school commissioner of Franklin County, for Williamson County’s share of the school funds. Names were often spelled differently back in time due to illiteracy and transcription errors. Consider all possible spellings of a last name. For instance, Maynard could also be Manard, Menard, Maynerd or Mainard.

Also, try leaving trailing letters off of names that have variations and keep the letters that tend to stay the same.
